Advantages:
- The E-Book is accurate up to the minute and will warn you when you are short on time to Drive.
- It will do Split Logging for you allowing you to take advantage of more hours to Drive when needed.
- There is no more having Dispatchers telling you that you can make your delivery on time," just drive a little more and adjust your logs later.
- There are problems with the system also such as; you are short 5 minutes getting to your destination and you must shut down before you get there.
- Most days you will run out of your 14 hour clock and only use a fraction of your Driving time.
Loading and Unloading takes time and uses up your 14 hour clock leaving not much time to Drive. - If you forget to put yourself Off Duty or in the Sleeper when you park it automatically goes to On Duty line and uses up your Hours Of Service.
There are many things that need to be changed on the System and the 14 Hour Clock. What are your concerns and thoughts?
How does your Body Clock work with the 11, 14 and 70 hour driving rules? What do you think of the Rules and Regulations?
Also check out The Mandate for Electronic On-Board Recording Systems that our Legislators have voted on and approved to take effect in 2012.
What do you think of this mandate and why should we comply with the ruling?
These are only a few of the problems with the system. Please send your thoughts and recommendations and see where they may lead.
I will only accumulate the data that you send me and forward to the proper sources. Maybe together we can make a difference. I am doing this as an independent driver trying to understand and help our needs as Truck
Drivers here in the USA.
**(By the way, I have been driving over the road since June of 1987 thru all of our States and Canada as an Owner-Operator and a Company Driver. I think that I understand most of our problems out here on the road but would like to hear from you.)**
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
